‘“Heroism is Botulism.” An unusual title announces our next collective exhibition, which opened on August 16, curated by Érica Burini. The exibition addresses the climate emergency of our times through the lens of the need for change in the way stories are told in the West.
In the radically assertive phrase of the title, the heroism that permeates history, politics, art, and Western thought as a whole is equated with botulism, a deadly disease. The exhibition discusses the contemporary urgency of transforming storytelling practices, featuring works that explore narratives shared with waters, lands, winds, plants, and animals—investigating possibilities for life amidst the ruins of capitalism.’—excerpted from the exhibition text.
